The National Service Authority (NSA) has officially announced the release of National Service e-certificates, marking a significant step in the Authority’s ongoing digital transformation agenda. The move is expected to ease access to certificates for both current and former National Service Personnel and to improve efficiency and verification processes.
In a public notice, the Authority stated that “the e-certificates have officially been released,” and that eligible personnel can now “access and download e-certificates through the Portal https://posting.gnsa.gov.gh/home/certificate-service, in accordance with the approved procedures provided on the platform.”
According to the NSA, the digital certificates are available to all eligible personnel who have completed their service and fulfilled the requirements. The Authority further clarified that past National Service Personnel who may need a reprint of their physical certificates or access to an electronic version can also apply through the portal. This service, however, attracts a prescribed fee and is strictly optional. As the NSA emphasised, it is “provided as an optional digital service, not compulsory.”
Beyond the release of e-certificates, the Authority also announced the upload of the Annual Evaluation Forms for the 2024/2025 service year onto the NSA Portal. All service personnel within the current batch are required to download, complete, and submit the duly endorsed forms to their respective District National Service Offices.
Importantly, the NSA noted that personnel in the 2024/2025 service year will only be able to access their e-certificates after submitting an approved Annual Evaluation Form. This requirement, according to the Authority, is part of efforts to ensure accountability and proper documentation across all districts.
The NSA outlined a clear procedure for accessing the e-certificate on the portal. Applicants are required to submit an online request using their National Service details and await approval, a process that can take “up to five working days.” Once approved, applicants receive an SMS or email notification prompting them to make payment.
Following payment, applicants must complete an identity verification process by entering their Ghana Card details and taking a live facial photograph using their device’s camera. Upon successful verification, the e-certificate can then be downloaded directly from the portal. The Authority stressed that “these steps are clearly outlined on the certificate service page of the NSA portal.”
The NSA has encouraged all personnel, both current and past, to carefully follow the approved procedures to ensure a smooth and timely experience. Additionally, the Authority called on institutions, employers, and other stakeholders to “accord full recognition and acceptance to e-certificates issued by the National Service Authority.”
For organisations that may require further confirmation, the NSA assured that verification can be done through its official channels.
The use of the e-certificates is widely seen as a move that will reduce delays, curb document loss, and improve verification, especially for graduates seeking employment or further studies. As Ghana continues to embrace digital public services, the NSA’s initiative represents another step toward modernising service delivery within the public sector.
