Osu Castle to Be Transformed into Major Tourist Hub – Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has announced plans to develop Osu Castle, the former seat of government, and its surrounding area into a vibrant tourist destination.

Speaking during his State of the Nation Address on Thursday, February 27, he outlined a vision to turn the historic site into a pedestrian-friendly precinct featuring arts and crafts markets, as well as dedicated jewelry and gold markets.

“This approximately 22-acre land will be transformed into a prime tourism destination, creating economic opportunities for artisans and businesses while preserving our cultural heritage,” he stated.

The initiative forms part of the government’s broader efforts to boost tourism, attract international visitors, and generate revenue for the country’s creative and cultural industries
