The Big Winners  of TGMA26

The 26th edition of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA26) was nothing short of magical. A night filled with glitz, memorable performances, emotional tributes, and, of course, big wins for some of Ghana’s most talented musicians. While many artists left their mark, it was King Promise who emerged as the undisputed star of the night.

Crowned the Artiste of the Year, King Promise walked away with a total of four awards, making him the most awarded act of the evening. His consistent growth in the industry, catchy hits, and loyal fan base finally earned him the topmost honor, solidifying his place as one of Ghana’s music heavyweights.

However, the spotlight wasn’t his alone. Stonebwoy, the ever-dominant reggae and dancehall force, also had an impressive run. He snagged three major awards: Best Reggae/Dancehall Artiste, Best Reggae Song, and Best Music Video, proving once again why he’s a powerhouse in his genre and an unstoppable force in Ghanaian music.

King Paluta, riding high on the success of his hit song “Aseda,” also claimed three well-deserved trophies. “Aseda” was named the Most Popular Song of the Year, while King Paluta himself earned accolades for Producer of the Year and Best Highlife Song. It was a proud moment for the Kumasi-based rapper, whose storytelling and musical style have captivated audiences across the nation.

Rapper Kweku Smoke, the voice behind the powerful gospel-rap fusion “Holy Ghost,” took home three awards as well. He was honored with Best Hip-Hop Song, Best Rap Performance, and Hiplife Artiste of the Year. His wins are a testament to the versatility and fresh energy he brings to the Ghanaian music scene.

The night also paid homage to legends. Gospel icon Yaw Sarpong was celebrated with the Lifetime Achievement Award, a fitting recognition for his decades-long dedication to uplifting souls through gospel music. His impact on the industry and his unwavering faith-infused artistry have inspired generations of gospel musicians.

One of the most moving moments of the night came during a heartfelt tribute performance dedicated to the legendary Osibisa band and other departed industry heroes. Adina, Adomaa, and Titi Owusu delivered an emotionally stirring medley that left the audience in awe and served as a beautiful reminder of the enduring legacy of Ghanaian music.

TGMA26 wasn’t just a night of awards it was a vivid reminder of Ghana’s rich musical tapestry. With fresh stars rising and legends being honored, the event echoed the pulse of a thriving industry and the unstoppable rhythm of a nation that sings its soul to the world
