Declare Your Assests or Face Removal: President Mahama To All Appointees

In a landmark move towards transparency, President John Dramani Mahama has publicly declared his assets, setting a precedent for his administration. During a ceremony at the Jubilee House in Accra on February 18, 2025, President Mahama disclosed his financial and property holdings, emphasizing his commitment to ethical governance.

This action aligns with his earlier directive mandating that all newly appointed ministers declare their assets within 30 days of assuming office. The President has made it clear that failure to comply with this directive to declare all assets by March 31st, 2025 will result in removal from office, underscoring the administration’s zero-tolerance policy towards corruption.

Civil society organizations have lauded this initiative, viewing it as a significant step towards restoring public trust in government institutions. The Crusaders Against Corruption, Ghana, have urged that only those who declare their assets be sworn into office, reinforcing the importance of accountability among public officials.

As the deadline approaches, all eyes are on the newly appointed ministers to follow the President’s example. This decisive move is expected to set a new standard for transparency and integrity in Ghana’s public service.
