Kofi Kinaata Calls for Fairness in Ghana’s World Cup Squad Selection

Award-winning Ghanaian musician and songwriter Kofi Kinaata has weighed in on the ongoing discussions surrounding Ghana’s squad selection for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, urging the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to ensure a fair process for all deserving players.

The celebrated singer took to X to express concerns many football fans have quietly shared, especially as anticipation grows over the final 26-man squad expected to represent Ghana.

“Dear GFA, we beg waa, we’re waiting for the Final WC 26 Man Squad,” he posted.

Kofi Kinaata further appealed to the technical team to consider players based on merit and current performance rather than other influences.

“If the selection process is ongoing backstage too, kindly make it free and fair for the active deserving players… because we all dey watch some,” parts of his post read.

His comments have since sparked conversations online, with many supporters agreeing that players who are currently active and performing consistently deserve opportunities in the national team setup.

The debate comes at a crucial moment as countries preparing for the 2026 FIFA World Cup continue to unveil their squads. Croatia, one of Ghana’s Group L opponents, is among the nations that have already announced players expected to feature at the tournament.

With excitement building ahead of the competition, many Ghanaian football fans are eagerly awaiting the Black Stars’ final squad announcement, hoping selection decisions will reflect performance, commitment, and form.
