Minister of Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations, Hon Sam Nartey George, has called for the Black Stars to be disbanded and the leadership of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) removed following Ghana’s 4-2 defeat to The Gambia.
The Black Stars suffered their second consecutive defeat in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers after losing 2-0 to Côte d’Ivoire in their opening Group C match.
Reacting to Tuesday’s defeat at the Accra Sports Stadium, Sam George took to social media to demand major changes to Ghana’s football structure.
“As for the Black Stars, my position before is my position today. Disband the team. Sack the FA,” he wrote.
He also called on Ghana to accept a possible FIFA ban to allow time to rebuild the national team.
“Let FIFA ban us for 2 years. Take the time to rebuild the team properly,” he added.
According to the minister, continuing with what he described as a patchwork approach would not solve the problems facing Ghanaian football.
“Truth hurts, but the patchwork is worse,” Sam George stated.
