Black Sherif has once again proven why he remains one of the biggest forces in Ghanaian music after emerging as the Artiste of the Year at the 27th Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA), held at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre on Saturday, May 9, 2026.
The 24-year-old superstar delivered one of the most commanding performances seen at the awards in recent years, reclaiming the industry’s highest honour for the second time after first winning it in 2023.
The night belonged almost entirely to the “Iron Boy” hitmaker, who swept five major awards, firmly establishing himself as the standout artist of the ceremony. In addition to winning Artiste of the Year, Black Sherif also took home Album of the Year for Iron Boy, Songwriter of the Year, Afropop Song of the Year for Sacrifice, and Hip-Hop Song of the Year for Where Dem Boys.
His latest triumph places him among a select group of multiple-time Artiste of the Year winners in TGMA history, further cementing his growing legacy within the Ghanaian music industry.
To secure the top prize, the Konongo Zongo-born musician overcame strong competition from some of the country’s biggest names, including Medikal, Stonebwoy, Wendy Shay, Sarkodie, and gospel star Diana Hamilton.
The Grand Arena erupted in celebration as Black Sherif’s name was announced, crowning a night that highlighted his influence, consistency and growing dominance both locally and internationally.
