The National Association of Sachet and Packaged Water Producers (NASPAWAP) has announced an upward adjustment in the prices of sachet water, with the new rates set to take effect from Monday, April 6, 2026.
In a statement issued on Thursday, April 2, the association attributed the decision to increasing production costs driven by external global factors, particularly the shortage of polymers used in packaging.
NASPAWAP noted that the situation has been worsened by geopolitical tensions, stating that “the global shortage of polymers and the sharp increase in their prices, exacerbated by the ongoing conflict in Iran,” have placed significant strain on manufacturers.
According to the association, these challenges have made it increasingly difficult for producers to maintain existing price levels. “The rising costs have significantly impacted production, making it challenging for manufacturers to maintain current prices,” the statement explained.
As part of the adjustment, NASPAWAP outlined new recommended price guidelines across the supply chain. The ex-factory price has been set at GH¢8 per bag for 500ml sachets (30 pieces), while the ex-truck price will be GH¢10 per bag. The maximum retail price is expected to reach GH¢15 per bag.
The association emphasised that these are “recommended price reviews by the national body” and called on all stakeholders to comply in order to maintain fairness within the market.
“We urge retailers and consumers to adhere to these prices to ensure fair trade practices,” NASPAWAP stated, while also appealing for public understanding as the industry navigates the current cost pressures.
