Ablakwa Okudzeto Responds to Minority Caucus: Ready for a Second Round of Vetting

The Minister-designate for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Ablakwa Okudzeto, has issued a strong response to the Minority Caucus in Parliament, following their recent criticisms and attempts to question his credentials.

In a Facebook post, Okudzeto addressed the accusations from the Minority, stating that they had ample opportunity to raise concerns during his vetting process but “chose to run away.” He further criticized the Minority for their failure to prosecute him during their eight years in power, claiming that there was nothing to pursue.

“The had every opportunity when I appeared before them for vetting but they chose to run away,” Okudzeto wrote. “They had every opportunity when they were in power for 8 years to have me prosecuted but they failed because there was nothing they could find.”

The Foreign Minister-designate continued, accusing the Minority of resorting to “desperate smear press conferences and infantile fabrications.” He reiterated his readiness to face a second round of vetting, should the Minority demand it, asserting that it is not a crime for a Member of Parliament to oversee the protection of public resources and state assets as part of their constitutional mandate.

“Those on the side of truth and justice can never be intimidated,” he added, expressing his unwavering focus on President Mahama’s “exciting reset innovations” which are set to be implemented at the Foreign Ministry.

He concluded his post with a message of patriotism, stating: “For God and Country. Ghana First.”
