Ato Forson Engages Market Women in Takoradi Ahead of 2026 Budget Presentation

Finance Minister, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, has met with traders at the Takoradi Market Circle as part of his ongoing stakeholder consultations ahead of the presentation of the 2026 National Budget, scheduled for Thursday, November 13, 2025.

The engagement formed part of the Minister’s broader effort to gather firsthand insights from ordinary Ghanaians whose daily lives are directly impacted by the government’s economic policies.

Speaking after the interaction, Dr Forson described his conversations with the market women as both humbling and inspiring, noting that their feedback offered valuable perspectives on how current economic measures are affecting small businesses.

“The conversations with these hardworking men and women were deeply humbling and truly inspiring,” he said. “It was clear that our efforts to stabilise the economy are beginning to bear fruit.”

Dr Forson highlighted that many of the traders expressed optimism about the direction of the economy under his stewardship as Finance Minister.

“Many spoke of easing prices, renewed confidence, and a growing sense that the tide is finally turning in their favour,” he added.

The visit to Takoradi comes at a crucial time as expectations heighten ahead of the 2026 Budget, which is anticipated to outline key fiscal measures aimed at sustaining Ghana’s economic recovery, creating jobs, and boosting growth across various sectors.

Dr Forson reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining open dialogue with citizens and stakeholders, ensuring that the government’s policies reflect the real needs and aspirations of the people.

The upcoming budget presentation is expected to focus on consolidating the gains made in economic stabilisation while introducing measures to promote inclusivity and growth within Ghana’s informal and small-scale business sectors.
