“Come 2028, the Minority Will Be the Majority” – Afenyo-Markin.

The Minority Leader in Parliament, Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has expressed firm optimism about the future of his caucus, declaring that the Minority will form the Majority by the next election cycle in 2028.

Speaking on the floor of Parliament on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, as the House resumed sittings for the final session of the year, the Effutu MP rallied his colleagues with a message of hope, discipline, and determination.

“We are firm in our conviction and will be able to hold this super majority to account. We don’t believe in numbers; we believe in substance, and we confront you with substance,” Afenyo-Markin boldly stated.

He described the Minority side as a “proud, mighty few,”  a group of committed legislators working tirelessly to uphold accountability and protect the interests of the Ghanaian people.

“Mr. Speaker, we are a proud, mighty few who speak truth to power and work tirelessly, guided by discipline, hard work, and our faith in God,” he said.

Drawing inspiration from the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, Afenyo-Markin recalled how the Speaker’s party once faced a similar uphill task after losing power in 2000 but eventually bounced back stronger.

“Inspired by your own hard work when your party lost in 2000, you led the charge with fewer numbers, and within a short period, you made progress. We are also inspired by what we saw in 2016, that by 2020, your side had made progress,” he remarked.

The Minority Leader concluded with a strong note of conviction, reinforcing his party’s faith in the coming political shift.

“We believe in that same dream  that comes in 2028, the Minority will be the Majority.”
