DVLA to Revoke Licences of Drivers With Six Traffic Tickets in Two Years

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has announced plans to revoke the licences of drivers who accumulate six TrafficTech violation tickets within two years.

DVLA Chief Executive Officer Julius Kotey said the proposed measure is intended to promote discipline among motorists, enforce compliance with road traffic regulations and improve road safety.

Under the proposed arrangement, drivers whose licences are revoked will be required to undergo mandatory retraining at an accredited driving school before they can qualify for a new driving licence.

The initiative is expected to discourage motorists from repeatedly violating traffic regulations and encourage safer driving habits.

The DVLA will rely on its TrafficTech system to monitor violations and identify repeat offenders, enabling the Authority to track drivers who repeatedly flout road traffic rules. The proposed measure forms part of the DVLA’s efforts to strengthen road safety and promote responsible driving in Ghana. Motorists are therefore urged to comply with traffic regulations and exercise caution on the roads to avoid penalties and help reduce road accidents
