Four New Faces as Otto Addo Announces Black Stars Squad for Austria and Germany Friendlies

Black Stars coach Otto Addo has unveiled his squad for this month’s high-profile international friendlies against Austria and Germany, set for 27 and 30 March, respectively, with four players receiving their first invitations to represent Ghana at the senior level.

The matches form part of Ghana’s preparations ahead of upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifying fixtures, with the technical team using the opportunity to assess new options across defence and attack.

Among the debutants is centre-back Derrick Luckassen, who currently plays for Cypriot side Pafos FC. The former AZ Alkmaar academy graduate has built a journeyman career across Europe, turning out for clubs in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Turkey, and Israel. He recently celebrated a league title with Pafos and etched his name into the club’s history by scoring their first Champions League goal.

Also earning a maiden call-up is Marvin Senaya, a defender with French Ligue 1 club AJ Auxerre. Since making his professional breakthrough in 2021, Senaya has gained experience through spells at Strasbourg, Sochaux, and Swiss outfit Lausanne-Sport, developing into a dependable presence at the back.

In an attack, England-born forward Daniel Agyei has been handed a chance to prove himself in national colours. Currently playing for Turkish club Kocaelispor, Agyei previously featured in England for Leyton Orient, Crewe Alexandra, Oxford United, and Burnley before continuing his career abroad.

Completing the list of newcomers is Patrick Pfeiffer, a powerful defender with German side Darmstadt 98. His consistent performances in Germany’s second tier have earned him recognition from the Black Stars technical bench.
