Ghana Premier League 2024/25 – Matchday 26: Kotoko Lose Ground in Title Race After Baba Yara Draw

six games left before the season ends. Every point now matters, especially for teams chasing the title and those trying to avoid relegation. One of the teams feeling the pressure is Asante Kotoko, who faced Bechem United at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

Kotoko went into the game with confidence, having won their last seven home matches. Fans expected another victory to keep their title hopes alive. However, Bechem United had other plans. They took the lead in the first half and played with determination, making it tough for Kotoko to take control of the game. Kotoko managed to equalize in the second half through a penalty converted by Albert Amoah, but they couldn’t find a winning goal. The match ended 1-1, leaving the home fans frustrated.

This was Kotoko’s second consecutive 1-1 draw, following a similar result against Heart of Lions. These back-to-back draws are a worrying sign at this critical point in the season. While Kotoko still remain in the race for the title, their recent performances have raised questions about whether they can keep up the pace.

One major concern is their struggle to score goals. In their last five games, Kotoko have only managed to score four times. Their attacking players, including Albert Amoah and Kwame Opoku, have not been as sharp in front of goal. Without consistent goals, winning matches becomes difficult.

On the other side, Bechem United deserve credit for their brave and organized performance. They didn’t just come to defend they showed attacking intent and earned a valuable point on the road. Their performance proves that they are still a force to reckon with in the league.

With Kotoko dropping points, the title race is now wide open. Other teams, like GoldStars, are closing in and will be eager to take advantage of any slip-ups. The final six games of the season promise to be intense and unpredictable.

For Kotoko, the message is clear: they must bounce back quickly. Their fans are passionate and hopeful, but results like this could hurt their chances of finishing at the top. If they want to lift the trophy this season, they’ll need to improve their finishing and find the fighting spirit they had earlier in the campaign.

As the season draws closer to the end, every match feels like a final. Matchday 26 showed just how quickly things can change in the Ghana Premier League.
