Government Increases Base Pay by 10% for Public Sector Workers

The Government of Ghana has signed an agreement with Organised Labour to increase the Base Pay on the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS) by 10% for public sector workers. The agreement, reached on February 20, 2025, will take effect from January 2025 and remain in place until December 2025.

The deal was finalized after negotiations under the Public Services Joint Standing Negotiating Committee (PSJSNC). This increase aims to improve the earnings of public sector employees and reflects the government’s commitment to fair compensation under the Single Spine Salary Structure.

The increment comes amid ongoing discussions about the cost of living and inflation, with Organised Labour advocating for better wages to support workers. The government, in response, has assured public sector employees that it remains committed to ensuring fair remuneration while balancing economic sustainability.
