Government to Reintroduce Road and Bridge Tolls with Modernized System

The Ministry of Roads and Highways has announced the reintroduction of road and bridge tolls as part of efforts to generate revenue for road maintenance and infrastructure development.

In a press release dated today the February 6,2025, the ministry stated that the government is working on the modalities for a modern, technology-driven toll collection system to ensure efficiency, transparency, and cost-effectiveness.

To achieve this, the ministry has assured the public that an open, competitive, and fair procurement process will be employed in implementing the new toll system.

The ministry also reaffirmed its commitment to addressing the challenges associated with road maintenance funding by introducing a tolling system that is both effective and convenient for road users.
