Greater Accra Minister Reintroduces Monthly Sanitation Day, Declares Last Friday of Every Month as Sanitation Day

The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Ocloo, has announced the reintroduction of the National Sanitation Day and the Cleanest City Award to promote a competitive and responsible approach to environmental sanitation in the region.

As part of the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s “Clean Up Ghana” agenda, a Regional Sanitation Day will be observed on the last Friday of every month, ensuring a dedicated day for cleaning and waste management across Greater Accra.

Speaking during an engagement with the management of the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council (GARCC) on her first day in office, the minister emphasized that sanitation would be a key performance indicator for Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs).

She also outlined plans for a comprehensive sanitation policy, which will promote waste segregation and provide garbage bags and bins in public spaces and homes to improve waste disposal practices.
