King Paluta Questions TGMA’s Decision After “Makoma” Fails to Get Nominated

Ghanaian rapper and singer King Paluta has formally written to the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) board, seeking an explanation for the exclusion of his song, Makoma, from certain nomination categories for the 26th TGMAs.

In a letter dated March 18, King Paluta stated that Makoma was submitted for four categories: Most Popular Song, Record of the Year, Hiplife Song of the Year, and Songwriter of the Year.

However, when the official list of nominees for the 26th TGMA was announced, Makoma did not receive a nomination in any of the categories for which it was submitted.

King Paluta expressed confidence that his song met all TGMA board requirements and deserved recognition in at least one of the categories.

“We respectfully write to your esteemed board to request clarification regarding the exclusion of Makoma by King Paluta, a song we duly submitted for consideration. We strongly believe it was Ghana’s most popular song during the review period, generating immense excitement among music lovers,” the letter stated.

King Paluta’s management further emphasized their trust in the TGMA board’s competence and urged them to provide a convincing explanation for what they described as an unpopular decision.

Additionally, they expressed their willingness to engage with the board for a possible reconsideration of the song in the submitted categories
