Nana Agradaa Sentenced to 15 Years for Fraud and Charlatanic Advertising.

Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, famously known as Nana Agradaa, has been handed a 15-year prison sentence by the Circuit Court in Accra. Once a popular traditional priestess who later became an evangelist, Agradaa’s story has now taken a sharp and dramatic twist.

Her sentencing follows her conviction for using deceptive advertisements and defrauding people by false pretences. The court found that in 2022, during a televised broadcast, Nana Agradaa promised to double the money for anyone who brought her cash. Drawn in by her bold claims and spiritual authority, many victims willingly gave her large sums, hoping for quick and miraculous financial returns that never came.

The court’s ruling is being described by many as a landmark decision against fraudulent spiritual practices. It sends a strong message that religious leaders and self-proclaimed spiritualists who prey on vulnerable people will be held accountable.

Before the final sentence was delivered, a mandatory pregnancy test was ordered by the court to confirm whether she could begin serving her term immediately. The test showed she was not pregnant, allowing the court to proceed without delay.

The public has widely welcomed the decision, seeing it as justice served and a warning to others engaged in similar scams. Many believe this is a step towards protecting people from deceitful schemes often disguised in the name of faith.
