The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced plans to stage a nationwide demonstration on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, demanding the dismissal of Foreign Affairs Minister Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa over concerns surrounding a recent evacuation exercise and the issuance of diplomatic and service passports.
The protest, named “Y3gye Y3 Sika,” is intended to demand accountability over public funds reportedly spent on the evacuation exercise and concerns about the management and issuance of official passports.
Announcing the demonstration at a press conference on Thursday, October 29, the NPP National Youth Organiser, Abanga Fuseini Yakubu, called on party supporters and members of the public to join the protest.
He said public funds and official documents belonged to the people and must be managed responsibly by those entrusted with public office. He added that citizens had a responsibility to demand accountability whenever there were concerns about the misuse of public resources or abuse of public trust.
The NPP has accused Hon Ablakwa of wrongdoing in connection with the two matters and is calling for investigations into the allegations. However, the claims have not been established as findings of wrongdoing.
According to Mr Yakubu, demonstrators are expected to assemble at 6:00 a.m. at Villaggio, near the Tetteh Quarshie Interchange and opposite Accra Mall, before beginning the march.
The protest route will include the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with the demonstration expected to end at Jubilee House, the seat of government.
The party says the demonstration is aimed at mounting pressure on the government to address its concerns and ensure accountability in the handling of public funds and official documents.
