“We acknowledge our defeat; we didn’t perform well,” says Hearts of Oak Head Coach

Accra Hearts of Oak’s struggles in the Ghana Premier League continue as the Phobians suffered yet another frustrating defeat, extending their winless run to four consecutive matches. Their latest setback came in a 1-0 loss to Nations FC, adding to earlier defeats against Bechem United, Dreams FC, and Bibiani Gold Stars.

This poor run of form has left head coach Aboubakar Ouattara visibly frustrated, as his side struggles to find the back of the net despite putting in solid performances. The match against Nations FC saw the Phobians battle hard, but they were undone by a moment of brilliance from Razak Simpson. The Nations FC captain, fresh off representing Ghana in their 3-0 victory over Madagascar in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, announced his return in style, unleashing a stunning long-range strike that sealed Hearts’ fate.

The defeat has further compounded Hearts of Oak’s problems, with the club now slipping to sixth place in the 18-team league standings. Ouattara, who has been under increasing pressure, did not hold back in his post-match interview, admitting that his team simply wasn’t good enough.

“Today, we lost to one of the most organized teams in the league. We did everything right in terms of our approach, but the same old problem keeps haunting us our inability to score goals. We are struggling in front of goal, and until we fix that, we will continue to suffer. We accept the defeat because, honestly, we didn’t do well,” Ouattara admitted.

This latest loss has raised serious concerns among Hearts of Oak supporters, who are desperate for a turnaround in form. With pressure mounting, Ouattara and his squad must find a solution fast if they are to keep their season on track and avoid falling further behind in the title race.

Can the Phobians bounce back, or will their struggles in front of goal continue to haunt them? Time will tell, but for now, Hearts of Oak remains a team searching for answers.
