Ghana Has Turned the Tide from Economic Crisis – Finance Minister

Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson has declared that Ghana has turned the tide from its economic crisis, expressing confidence that the country is moving in the right direction following measures taken to stabilise the economy.

He said the foundation had been laid for the country’s economic recovery and future growth, but stressed the need to protect macroeconomic stability to sustain the gains made.

Dr Forson reminded government officials and Members of Parliament of the responsibility entrusted to them by Ghanaians, saying they were elected at a time when the country was facing serious economic challenges.

“President Mahama and his members of Parliament were elected to save this country because Ghana was in a crisis,” he said, urging them not to lose sight of the mandate given to them by the people.

He emphasised that the government had a duty to deliver on its promises and work to meet the expectations of Ghanaians.

“Together we have a responsibility. A responsibility to work to the satisfaction of the people of Ghana,” Dr Forson stated.

The Finance Minister expressed optimism about the country’s economic prospects, declaring that the progress made so far had positioned Ghana for further development.

“Today we have turned the tide. We are moving in the right direction,” he said.

He added that the economic foundation established by the government provided grounds for optimism about Ghana’s future.

“Based on the foundation that we have laid, this country is ready to take off,” Dr Forson stated.

However, he cautioned that sustaining the recovery would require continued efforts to safeguard macroeconomic stability and ensure that the progress achieved translates into lasting economic improvements for Ghanaians.
