The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has expressed satisfaction with the progress of the Heal Komfo Anokye Project after inspecting Phase One, which is now 95% complete.
Launched in November 2023 by the Asantehene, the project aims to raise $10 million to renovate the aging Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH). The over 70-year-old facility, which serves more than 12 regions in Ghana, has been in a deteriorating state, necessitating urgent refurbishment. The Asantehene’s visit underscores his commitment to ensuring the successful transformation of the hospital into a modern healthcare institution.
On Friday, January 31, 2025, the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, toured the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) to inspect the ongoing work under the Heal Komfo Anokye Project. He expressed satisfaction with the progress made, as Phase One of the project is now 95% complete.
The first phase includes the full renovation and furnishing of two floors in Block A. The only remaining task is the installation of an oxygen bedhead, after which the renovated section will become fully operational. The Asantehene’s visit reaffirms his commitment to modernizing the 70-year-old facility to improve healthcare delivery.
Samuel Adu-Boakye, Chairman of the Heal Komfo Anokye Project, has announced that patients currently accommodated in the makeshift ward will soon be relocated to the newly completed section of Block A. This move will pave the way for the commencement of Phase Two of the hospital’s renovation.
He further assured that the next phase of the project would progress swiftly, as most of the necessary materials are already in place. The ongoing renovation aims to modernize the 70-year-old facility and enhance healthcare services at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
Samuel Adu-Boakye, Chairman of the Heal Komfo Anokye Project, has commended all contributors for their generosity while appealing for further financial support to ensure the successful completion of the initiative.
“We are grateful for the many donations we have received. Raising nearly $4 million in just six months is a remarkable achievement,” he stated.
He emphasized that while these contributions have significantly advanced the project, additional funds are still required to complete the work. He also reassured those who were initially skeptical about the proper use of the funds, pointing to the high-quality renovations as clear evidence of transparency and commitment.
