Afenyo-Markin Condemns NIB Over Attempted Arrest of Rev. Ntim Fordjour

Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has strongly criticized the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) for attempting to arrest Assin South MP, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, at his residence.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, April 9, prompting some leading members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), including Afenyo-Markin, to step in and stop the arrest. Speaking to the media at the scene, Afenyo-Markin expressed his dissatisfaction with the manner in which the NIB handled the situation.

“We are ready to cooperate with the government if they change their approach—but we will not be intimidated,” he asserted.

The Minority Leader went further to criticize the government’s priorities, stressing that pressing national issues such as youth unemployment and illegal mining (galamsey) are being ignored, while energy is being spent on actions like this.

Referring to Rev. Fordjour’s situation, Afenyo-Markin made it clear that he would not be left to face the situation alone.

“Rev. Ntim is not alone. He will not walk alone and will never walk alone,” he declared.

Quoting scripture, he added: “Though he walks through the valley of the shadow of death, he will fear no evil, for he walks with his God and with the strength of the mighty 88 minority members standing behind him.”

Ending on a cautionary note to the government, Afenyo-Markin warned, “Four years is far, but also very near”
