Ghanaian Dancehall artist Shatta Wale has been detained by the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) as part of an ongoing investigation into his tax obligations related to his luxury yellow Lamborghini.

His management, in a statement issued on Thursday, August 20, confirmed the development, stressing that the artist, whose real name is Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., voluntarily appeared before EOCO to assist with inquiries.

According to his manager, Samuel Baah, popularly known as Sammy Flex, the matter “concerns the tax obligations of a yellow Lamborghini vehicle.”

Shatta Wale, accompanied by his lawyer Cephas Biyuo, reported to the EOCO offices in Accra on Thursday afternoon. Management noted that his legal team is “fully engaged and actively working with the authorities to resolve this matter.”

The statement further assured fans and supporters:

“We want to assure all fans and the general public that his legal team is fully engaged and actively working with the authorities to resolve this matter. They are taking all necessary steps to secure his release at the earliest opportunity.”

Management also called for calm among Shatta Movement (SM) supporters, urging them to avoid unnecessary speculation.

“We urge the SM Family and all well-wishers to remain calm and avoid any speculation. We have the utmost confidence in the judicial process,” the statement added.

Shatta Wale’s team confirmed that discussions with EOCO officials will continue, stating that they “will return to the EOCO offices tomorrow morning to continue these discussions.”
