Asantehene Sets Final Mediation Session for Bawku Chieftaincy Conflict

The Manhyia Palace has announced that His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, will host what is expected to be the concluding session of his mediation efforts in the Bawku chieftaincy conflict on November 30 and December 1, 2025.

The Asantehene, who has been leading peace talks between the factions, is said to be optimistic about the progress made so far. In a statement from the Palace, His Majesty praised both sides for their positive approach to the mediation, recognising the willingness of all parties to engage in dialogue.

“His Majesty praises both sides for their positive approach to the mediation so far and appeals to all concerned to avoid any actions likely to affect the progress towards a lasting solution to the Bawku conflict,” the statement read.

Otumfuo’s involvement in the Bawku conflict has been widely welcomed across the country, as many see his mediation as a credible step toward lasting peace in the area. Over the past months, the Asantehene has met separately with the various parties involved, seeking to bridge divides and restore harmony in the Bawku Traditional Area.

The upcoming sessions in Kumasi are expected to mark the final phase of discussions, setting the stage for a sustainable resolution after years of tension and violence.
