World Cup 2026Q: Black Stars Ready for Madagascar Showdown

Ghana’s Black Stars are just one step closer to the 2026 FIFA World Cup as they prepare to face Madagascar on Monday, March 24.

Otto Addo’s team currently leads Group I with 12 points from five matches, sitting two points ahead of Madagascar, who are in second place with 10 points. A win in this crucial match would push Ghana further ahead in the standings, bringing them closer to securing a spot at the World Cup.

The Black Stars climbed to the top of the group after a dominant 5-0 victory over Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium last Friday. Antoine Semenyo, Inaki Williams, Jordan Ayew, Mohammed Salisu, and Ernest Nuamah all found the net in the impressive win. Meanwhile, Madagascar also made a statement with a 4-1 away victory over the Central African Republic just two days earlier.

This will be the fourth meeting between Ghana and Madagascar since 2022. Ghana has won two of the previous encounters, while one ended in a draw. In that time, the Black Stars have scored four goals, conceded just once, and kept three clean sheets.

One advantage for Ghana is that Monday’s match will be played in Morocco, as Madagascar’s home stadium has been deemed unfit to host the game. This neutral venue could work in Ghana’s favor as they look to secure another vital win.

With no major injury concerns in the squad, Otto Addo may tweak his starting lineup from the Chad game. The match kicks off at 19:00 GMT, and a win would take Ghana to 15 pointsf ive clear at the top of Group I.
