A Plus Questions Asiedu Nketia’s Presidential Ambition, Citing Lack of Development in Home Region

Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, has criticised National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia over speculation that he may contest the 2028 presidential election, questioning his record after decades in politics.

In a video circulating on social media, A Plus alleged that Mr Asiedu Nketia was positioning himself for the presidency, citing what he described as a change in the NDC chairman’s dress style, particularly his decision to wear suits.

“Asiedu Nketia wants to become President of Ghana, so he has started wearing suits,” A Plus said.

A Plus also questioned what he considered the limited development of Mr Asiedu Nketia’s hometown and the Bono Region, arguing that his long involvement in politics should have translated into greater progress for the area.

He noted that the NDC chairman had been active in politics since the era of the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC), yet, in his view, there had been little significant development in his home area.

“Before Dubai began developing into what it is today, Asiedu Nketia was already in politics,” A Plus said, using the comparison to challenge the NDC chairman’s record.

The Gomoa Central MP further compared Mr Asiedu Nketia’s political career with that of President John Dramani Mahama, arguing that the NDC chairman had not achieved enough despite his years of involvement in politics.

His comments come amid speculation about a possible presidential bid by Mr Asiedu Nketia ahead of the 2028 general elections. However, the NDC chairman has not officially declared his intention to contest the presidency.
