The Disciplinary Committee of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has postponed the scheduled hearing for former Dome-Kwabenya MP, Sarah Adwoa Safo.
Originally, Adwoa Safo was expected to appear before the Committee on Monday, April 7, 2025. This was communicated in a letter dated March 24, following allegations that she violated a party directive. The directive barred members from making public statements that could create disaffection within the party.
However, in a new letter dated Sunday, April 6, the Committee announced that the hearing has been officially postponed. The change, according to the Committee, is due to internal considerations and adjustments to their schedule.
“I bring you warm greetings from the national secretariat of the party. Further to our earlier correspondence dated March 24, 2025, inviting you to appear before the Disciplinary Committee on Monday, April 7, we wish to notify you that the hearing has formally been postponed,” the letter read.
The Committee thanked Adwoa Safo for her cooperation and assured that the Party remains committed to fairness, due process, and integrity in its proceedings.
Adwoa Safo was referred to the Disciplinary Committee on March 20, 2025. This followed her comments on the Pulse Show on Joy News, which the party said clearly went against a standing order that all members refrain from discussing internal party issues in the media.
In a statement, NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong explained that Adwoa Safo’s public remarks violated party rules and undermined efforts to rebuild unity after the party’s defeat in the 2024 elections.
“As a former MP, Deputy Majority Leader, and Minister of State under the previous NPP government, she was expected to lead by example and uphold the party’s values of discipline, loyalty, and unity,” the statement said.
Her actions, the party believes, also go against Article 3(5) of the NPP Constitution, which requires members to promote and protect the image of the party.
Based on this, the NPP leadership referred her to the Disciplinary Committee for further action
