Mr Eazi Pledges Two Million Dollars for Event Venues in Accra

Nigerian musician and entrepreneur Mr Eazi has signalled a major private-sector push into Ghana’s entertainment infrastructure, announcing plans to invest in a purpose-built venue to support the country’s rapidly growing events and tourism scene.

Speaking on stage at the Detty Rave concert, the artiste who founded the popular festival and has long-standing business ties to Ghana, revealed his intention to acquire land for the development of both outdoor and indoor performance spaces. Addressing the Ghana Tourism Authority directly, he emphasised the urgency of expanding the country’s event infrastructure.

“I want to tell Ghana Tourism that we need proper venues for events in Accra. I need land for an outdoor and an indoor venue. Ghana Tourism, if you think I am joking, I will drop the first $2 million,” he declared to loud applause from the crowd.

Mr Eazi stated that he is prepared to commit an initial investment of up to $2 million to kick-start the project. He explained that the proposed venue would elevate Ghana’s live entertainment ecosystem by providing a modern, well-equipped space for concerts, festivals, and cultural events. Beyond entertainment, he noted that the development would create jobs, stimulate tourism, and strengthen the creative economy.

His remarks add new momentum to ongoing conversations about the role of private investment in Ghana’s entertainment infrastructure, especially as the country continues to brand itself as a premier global events destination through initiatives like “December in GH.” Industry stakeholders have long highlighted challenges with existing venues, particularly during the festive season when event numbers surge and capacity is stretched.

Over the years, Detty Rave has grown into a centrepiece of Ghana’s “Detty December” phenomenon, a month-long celebration that attracts locals, members of the diaspora, and international visitors while generating significant economic activity across hospitality, transport, and retail sectors. With that backdrop, Mr Eazi expressed his readiness to collaborate with authorities and partners to make the project a reality.
