“Prez Mahama to Lead a Ruthless Fight Against Galamsey” – Ablakwa.

Minister for Foreign Affairs and North Tongu MP, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has revealed that President John Dramani Mahama is preparing to launch what he describes as the most decisive war yet against illegal mining, locally known as galamsey.

Speaking to Joy News after a cabinet meeting early Thursday, August 14, Ablakwa said the President has made it clear that the fight against galamsey will be “ruthless and relentless,” signalling a level of commitment and intensity never before witnessed in Ghana’s history.

“I can confirm to you that you are going to see a fight that has never been witnessed in this country,” Ablakwa stated. “President Mahama is going to lead a very ruthless and relentless campaign against galamsey. He has not minced words at all.”

According to the Minister, the cabinet discussions left no room for doubt about the President’s determination. “There was no ambiguity that he will be leading a war that we have never seen, to deal with this existential threat once and for all,” he stressed. Illegal mining has long been a thorn in Ghana’s side, destroying farmlands, polluting rivers, and damaging ecosystems. While several administrations have tried to curb the practice, Ablakwa’s comments indicate that Mahama’s upcoming campaign will aim to put an end to the menace once and for all without compromise.
