Asantehene Summons Warring Factions to Manhyia Palace Amid Rising Tensions

The Manhyia Palace has officially announced that His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, will once again lend his esteemed leadership and conflict resolution expertise to the ongoing efforts aimed at resolving the protracted Bawku crisis. In a press statement dated April 15, 2025, it was revealed that Otumfuo will resume his mediation efforts during a scheduled peace dialogue to be held from April 28 to May 1, 2025, at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.

This mediation initiative is part of a broader commitment by the Asantehene to foster peace, stability, and unity across the nation. Recognized both nationally and internationally for his diplomatic acumen and unwavering dedication to harmony, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II is once again stepping into a vital role at a time when tensions in Bawku continue to affect lives and livelihoods.

The Manhyia Palace, in its statement, called on all parties and stakeholders involved in theBawku conflict including traditional leaders, community representatives, government officials, and civil society groups to fully cooperate and engage in the process with sincerity and openness. The Palace stressed that a collaborative and respectful approach is crucial for the success of the talks and the restoration of lasting peace in the troubled region.
