Black Queens to Face Morocco in International Friendly Match on February 21

The Morocco senior women’s national team, the Atlas Lionesses, is set to host Ghana’s Black Queens in an international friendly match later this month as part of their preparations for the rescheduled 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The match is scheduled for Friday, February 21, at the Pere Jego Stadium in Casablanca and will serve as an important test for both teams ahead of the continental competition.

For Ghana, the game marks a significant moment as it will be the first under newly appointed head coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren, who was unveiled last month. The Swedish tactician will use the match as a preparatory ground to firm up his squad as the Black Queens make a return to WAFCON for the first time since 2018.

The Black Queens have not played a match since their July 2024 friendly defeat to Japan, having missed scheduled games against Senegal and Tunisia due to financial constraints.

Meanwhile, the Atlas Lionesses are using the international friendly match as part of their WAFCON preparations, as they gear up to host the tournament.
