The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has reappointed Carlos Queiroz as head coach of the Black Stars for the next phase of the national team’s programme.
The decision comes after Queiroz’s previous mandate, which saw him lead Ghana at the recently concluded FIFA World Cup, ended a few weeks ago.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, September 2, the GFA said the Portuguese coach’s return followed discussions between the association, the Ministry of Sports and Recreation and Queiroz.
“The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is pleased to announce that it has reached an agreement with Carlos Queiroz for his appointment as Head Coach of the Black Stars for the next phase of the team’s programme,” the statement said.
According to the GFA, the 73-year-old will begin his new mandate during the upcoming international window as Ghana turns its attention to the next chapter of its international campaign.
The association said Queiroz’s “extensive international experience, technical expertise and knowledge of the Black Stars” made him well-positioned to continue leading the team.
Further details about his new mandate and the Black Stars’ upcoming programme are expected to be announced in due course.
The GFA said both the association and the coach will now focus on “building a successful new phase for Ghana on the international stage.”
