Drug Trafficking Operation Uncovered at Kotoka International Airport: Full Investigation Ordered

President John Dramani Mahama has ordered a full-scale investigation into allegations of drug trafficking and money laundering involving two suspicious flights that recently arrived at Kotoka International Airport (KIA).

The President made this announcement in a statement posted on his official Facebook page, emphasizing his administration’s commitment to ensuring Ghana does not become a hub for illicit drug trade.

In his post, President Mahama reaffirmed the government’s determination to combat drug-related crimes, stating:

“Government takes all allegations of drug trafficking seriously. To ensure a thorough and transparent investigation, I have directed all relevant investigative agencies – including the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), the Police CID, the National Investigations Bureau (NIB), and the National Security Coordinator to immediately collaborate with Honourable Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, who raised these concerns, to provide all necessary information for investigations.”

He also highlighted a recent high-profile drug bust carried out by the National Investigations Bureau (NIB), where illegal substances with an estimated street value of $350 million were seized. This, he said, demonstrates the government’s unwavering commitment to fighting organized crime.

The President also urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies to help protect Ghana’s borders from criminal activities.
