Ghana and Morocco to Eliminate Visa Requirements for Travelers

Ghana and Morocco have reached an agreement to eliminate visa requirements for all categories of travelers from both nations, as announced by Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa. This significant development aims to simplify travel between the two countries and is expected to be presented to their respective parliaments for ratification in the near future.

During the meeting, Ambassador Ouaadil addressed concerns raised by widely circulated social media videos that falsely claimed the massacre of approximately 700 Africans in Morocco. She provided assurance that Ghanaians and all Africans residing in Morocco are safe. The ambassador clarified that the footage in question depicted an older border incident that occurred on June 24, 2022, which tragically resulted in the loss of 23 lives. 

This incident, which was deeply regrettable, has since been thoroughly investigated by Moroccan and Spanish authorities.”she stated. Minister Ablakwa described the discussions as “fruitful and reassuring,” highlighting the positive outcomes of the engagement between the two nations.

The agreement to remove visa requirements and the commitment to increased collaboration signal a strengthening of ties between Ghana and Morocco, promising greater ease of travel and enhanced cooperation in vital sectors
