Ofori-Atta Off ICE Records

Former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta is no longer appearing on the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainee locator system, signalling a possible release from custody after months of detention.

The update, confirmed through checks on the ICE database, was further backed by his legal team, Minkah- Premo, Osei-Bonsu, Bruce-Catthline, and Partners, who disclosed that Ofori-Atta was released on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.

“On April 7m 2026, Ken Ofori-Atta was released from ICE detention pursuant to judicial order. He is home with his family”

Ofori-Atta had been in detention since January 2026, following his arrest in the United States over concerns regarding his immigration status. He was apprehended in Virginia, where authorities held him at an ICE facility while legal proceedings progressed.

His case involved both immigration processes and an extradition request from Ghana, drawing heightened public interest back home due to his high-profile position as a former Finance Minister.

During the legal battle, reports indicate he was denied bail by a U.S. court while contesting the charges and attempting to resolve his stay in the country.

Although he is no longer listed as a detainee, there is still no official communication from U.S. authorities or his legal representatives clarifying the terms of his release or what lies ahead.

The development leaves unanswered questions about whether he will remain in the United States or face extradition, as the case continues to unfold.
