The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has raised Ghana’s economic growth forecast for 2026 from 4.6% to 5.7%, with Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson expressing confidence that the country will perform even better.
The upward revision represents a significant improvement on the Fund’s April projection and signals stronger expectations for Ghana’s economic performance in 2026.
Reacting to the revised forecast, Dr Forson said the government was confident it would exceed the IMF’s latest estimate, citing its commitment to fiscal discipline and ongoing economic reforms.
“We are confident we will exceed that projection,” he stated.
The Finance Minister disclosed that he had met with the IMF’s African Department Director, Zeine Zeidane, in Bangkok, where he reaffirmed the government’s commitment to maintaining sound economic management.
“In Bangkok, I met with the IMF’s African Department Director, Zeine Zeidane, and reaffirmed our commitment to the fiscal credibility, discipline and bold reforms powering Ghana’s economic turnaround,” Dr Forson said.
