NSA Boss Confirms Engagement with Vybz Kartel for Possible Ghana Concert.

The Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Yaw Ampofo, has confirmed that there has been an official engagement with Jamaican dancehall star Vybz Kartel regarding a potential concert in Ghana.

Speaking in an interview on July 15, 2025, Mr. Ampofo addressed growing speculation after a report by Sporty FM revealed that the incarcerated musician had sent a formal request to the NSA, seeking approval to host a concert at the Accra Sports Stadium in December.

“Any engagement with an act, an international act, or even local – Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, King Promise, the churches would also be having their concerts and end-of-year programmes, conferences,” the NSA boss said. “The facility is not only the pitch. We have other amenities that can be used equitably.”

Addressing the Vybz Kartel matter directly, Mr. Ampofo confirmed, “But for Vybz Kartel, what I can say is that there has been engagement. There’s been contact. And for now, that’s all I can say.”

The confirmation follows viral social media chatter after Ghanaian singer Moliy posted a video encouraging the “World Boss” to perform in Ghana. In a surprise video response, Vybz Kartel said, “I will surprise you. So you can bring me to Ghana.”

While the specifics of the proposed concert remain unclear, the NSA’s confirmation signals that plans may be in motion. It also marks a significant moment for Ghana’s entertainment scene as fans speculate about how a virtual or representative performance by Vybz Kartel, who remains incarcerated in Jamaica, might unfold.
