Security agencies have dismantled several suspected cybercrime centres operating across parts of the Greater Accra Region following intelligence-led operations coordinated by the Cyber Security Authority (CSA).
The operations, conducted over the last 48 hours, targeted locations in East Legon Hills, Afienya, Kwabenya, Weija and Tuba, where young men were allegedly being exploited and coerced by criminal kingpins to engage in cybercrime activities.
Acting on intelligence gathered by the CSA, a joint task force made up of operatives from National Security Operations, the Cyber Security Authority, the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters, and the Ghana Police Service SWAT Unit carried out coordinated raids on January 16 and 17, 2026.
The exercise led to the arrest of nine Nigerian nationals identified as suspects, while forty-four other Nigerian nationals believed to be victims were rescued from the various apartments. The victims were found operating laptop computers at the time of the raids.
Searches conducted at the premises resulted in the retrieval of 52 assorted mobile phones, 62 laptop computers, and two pump-action guns.

In total, fifty-three Nigerian nationals were arrested across the five locations, with seventeen picked up in Tuba, eleven in Afienya, ten each in Kwabenya and Weija, and five in East Legon Hills.
All the arrested individuals have been profiled and handed over to the Ghana Immigration Service for safekeeping and further investigations.
Sharing details of the operation on his official Facebook page, the Minister for Communications and Digital Technology, Hon. Samuel Nartey George, cautioned foreign nationals against falling victim to deception by criminal networks.
“We caution foreign nationals invited to Ghana to verify claims made by their fellow nationals to lure them here. Protecting Ghana’s cyber image internationally is non-negotiable,” the Minister stated.
He further disclosed that some individuals arrested in previous operations had already been profiled by the Ghana Immigration Service and INTERPOL, and were successfully handed over to Nigerian law enforcement authorities at the Seme border, while others are currently facing prosecution before Ghanaian courts.
Hon. Sam George commended the Cyber Security Authority and its partner security agencies for the successful operation, reiterating the government’s commitment to safeguarding Ghana’s digital space and international cyber reputation.
