Shatta Wale Issues Public Apology to Former Manager Bulldog Over 2022 Allegation

Ghanaian award-winning dancehall artiste and entertainment icon, Charles Nii ArmahMensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, has issued a heartfelt retraction and apology over a series of controversial statements he made about his former manager Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson, popularly known as Bulldog, in 2022.

The apology was posted on Shatta Wale’s official Facebook page on Tuesday, April 30, 2025. In the statement, the musician admitted that his earlier publications, which were shared on November 2, 2022, had been misunderstood and misinterpreted by the public, particularly regarding their implications about Bulldog’s alleged involvement in the tragic murder of music producer and manager, Fennec Okyere.

In his post, Shatta Wale wrote:

“On November 2, 2022, I published a series of posts on my social media pages and handles about MR. LAWRENCE NANA ASIAMAH HANSON alias BULLDOG.

The publications included a statement that I have now come to know was generally misunderstood or misconstrued as MR. HANSON’s confessions to me that he had a hand in the murder of FENNEC OKYERE (alias FENICKS).

The publications also included statements that imputed immorality or improper social behaviour to MR. HANSON and other highly placed public figures.

I wish to retract each of the statements in the said series of publications, as I did not mean to say that MR. HANSON had a hand in the murder of FENNEC OKYERE.

I also wish to apologise to MR. HANSON and all the persons whom my publications of the November 2, 2022, have caused pain, agony, anguish, shame, ridicule, or hatred.”

The apology marks a significant moment in the long-standing and often rocky relationship between Shatta Wale and Bulldog, who once managed the artist before their professional split. It also offers a degree of clarity and closure to the public, especially fans and those affected by the controversial posts.

As of today Thursday, May 1 Bulldog has not publicly responded to the retraction. However, many fans and industry stakeholders see the statement as a mature step toward reconciliation and accountability
