Statistics Matter, But They Don’t Tell the Whole Story – Otto Addo

Black Stars head coach, Otto Addo, has played down the importance of statistics ahead of Ghana’s 2026 World Cup qualifier against Chad. Speaking to 3Sports, he acknowledged that while numbers provide useful insights, they do not always reflect the full reality of a team’s performance.

“Statistics matter, but they don’t tell the whole story because different games come with different circumstances,” Addo explained. “It’s not just about World Cup or AFCON qualifiersevery match is important. Some games are friendlies, others are played under challenging conditions like injuries, so relying solely on statistics can be misleading.”

He emphasized that his main focus is on preparing the team to respond positively and regain confidence ahead of the match against Chad.

“I’m looking forward to this game, not just to secure a win but to lift the team’s spirit and restore confidence. In football, there are ups and downs, but what matters most is learning to overcome challenges,” he added.

Otto Addo also expressed his appreciation to Ghanaians for their continuous support, even during difficult times, and assured fans that the team is determined to deliver strong performances
