“The NDC Government Does PR With Everything” – Dr Amin Adam

Former Minister of Finance and Member of Parliament for Karaga, Dr Amin Adam Mohammed, has criticised the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), accusing it of turning routine government actions into public relations exercises.

In a post on his official Facebook page, Dr Amin Adam reacted to a recent statement by the Ministry of Finance announcing the clearance of $1.47 billion in energy sector debt. According to the ministry, the move forms part of efforts by the current administration to stabilise the energy sector. However, Dr Amin Adam argued that the announcement was unnecessary and misleading.

“The NDC government does PR with everything. Paying energy sector debts of $1.4 billion is not new,” he stated.

The former finance minister contended that similar payments were made by the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) government without attracting public attention or publicity. He explained that debt payments to the energy sector have been a continuous process and should not be presented as a novel achievement.

Dr Amin Adam further pointed out that the NDC government’s own 2025 Budget acknowledges that the NPP administration had already paid $1.4 billion towards energy sector debts in 2024. According to him, this fact contradicts the impression being created that the current government has taken an extraordinary step.

“As captured in the 2025 Budget presented by the NDC government, the previous NPP government paid $1.4 billion of the energy sector debts in 2024 without making noise about it,” he added.
