Antoine Semenyo Becomes Ghana’s Most Expensive Football Transfer After Completing Move to Manchester City

Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo has officially sealed a blockbuster transfer to Manchester City, signing a five-and-a-half-year contract with the Premier League champions.

The 26-year-old completed his medical on Thursday and put pen to paper on a deal that will keep him at the Etihad Stadium until 2031, just hours after his emotional farewell appearance for AFC Bournemouth against Tottenham Hotspur.

Upon his unveiling, Semenyo told the club’s official that he is “immensely proud” to join a team he described as one of the best in the world.

“I am so proud to have joined Manchester City,” Semenyo said. “This is a club with world-class players, world-class facilities and one of the greatest managers ever. I believe City can take my game to the next level, and my best football is still to come.”

The forward will wear jersey number 42, and the transfer, worth £64 million, now stands as the highest-fee transfer in Ghanaian football history.

Semenyo’s time at Bournemouth, though brief, was highly productive. In 109 appearances across all competitions, he scored 32 goals and provided 13 assists, showcasing his quality and consistency in English football.

Now, the stage has expanded. From Bournemouth to Manchester, from promising talent to established Premier League star, Antoine Semenyo embarks on a new chapter, one that already carries the weight of history.
