Mahama Pledges Better Conditions for Ghana Armed Forces Personnel

Former President John Dramani Mahama has renewed his promise to improve the welfare and working conditions of both military officers and civilian staff serving in the Ghana Armed Forces.

Speaking at the graduation and commissioning ceremony for officer cadets at the Ghana Military Academy on Friday, April 11, Mahama outlined plans to strengthen support for both active and retired personnel.

Addressing the audience of dignitaries, officers, and families, he said:

“To all military and civilian staff, I am committed to improving your working conditions in a steady and structured way. One of the key drivers will be GEHOC, which we will use to provide sustainable financial support for the Armed Forces. Your dedication and sacrifices must be acknowledged.”

Mahama also assured retired service members that their contributions would not be forgotten. He promised prompt payment of pensions and benefits to honor their years of service:

“For our veterans who have given so much to this country, we will make sure your retirement benefits are paid without delay.”

He highlighted the critical role the Armed Forces play in keeping Ghana safe and stable, and promised that his administration would provide the resources needed for the military to carry out its duties effectively.

In his address to the graduating cadets, Mahama encouraged them to uphold the values of leadership, service, and commitment to the nation.

The colorful commissioning parade was attended by senior military officials, government representatives, diplomats, and proud relatives of the new officers.

In closing, Mahama emphasized the Armed Forces’ role in protecting Ghana’s democracy and peace, urging all personnel to maintain high standards in their service and conduct
