The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has officially announced that Parliament will resume sitting on Thursday, May 21, 2026.
The announcement marks the commencement of the Second Meeting of the Second Session of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic. According to the notice issued by the Office of the Speaker on May 4, 2026, the sitting will take place at Parliament House in Accra at 10:00 a.m.
Invoking the authority of the Standing Orders of Parliament, Speaker Bagbin stated: “Pursuant to Order 58 of the Standing Orders of the Parliament of Ghana, the Second Meeting of the Second Session of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic shall commence on Thursday, the 21st day of May, 2026, at ten o’clock in the forenoon.”
The formal notice underscores Parliament’s readiness to reconvene and continue its legislative duties after the previous adjournment. It also sets the stage for what is expected to be another crucial period of parliamentary business, including debates, policy discussions, and oversight of government activities.
