Black Stars Head Coach Carlos Queiroz Says Goodbye to Ghana

Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has officially said goodbye to Ghana after ending his spell with the national team, leaving behind a heartfelt message to the Ghana Football Association, his players, staff and football fans.

In a farewell message posted on Facebook, Queiroz thanked everyone who supported him during his time with the Black Stars and reflected on the lessons from his tenure.

He began by saying, “Football, like life, teaches us one timeless lesson: you either win or you learn.” He noted that although he was proud of what the team achieved, he always believed there was room for greater success.

“I leave this journey with pride in what we achieved, but also with the healthy dissatisfaction of those who always wanted more. Reaching a higher level should never be the destination, it should be the beginning of even greater ambitions,” he wrote.

Carlos also called for greater investment in Ghana’s football development, stressing that lasting success depends on building strong structures away from the pitch.

“The future of the Black Stars will not be built only on the pitch. Black Stars’ success must start off the field by creating the best possible environment to prepare, protect and develop Ghana’s extraordinary football talent,” he stated.

Queiroz expressed gratitude to the Ghana Football Association leadership for the opportunity to lead the national team.

“To my President and Board, thank you so much for the opportunity to serve the Ghana National Football Team. It was an honour and privilege to serve the Country and the Black Stars,” he said.

He also thanked his players and members of the technical team for their commitment throughout his time in charge.

“To my players and staff, my deepest gratitude for your courage, commitment and unwavering dedication to the team,” he added.

In his message to Ghanaian fans, Queiroz acknowledged that the team did not achieve all of its objectives but believes it restored the Black Stars’ reputation on the international stage.

“We cannot claim complete sporting satisfaction, but we can proudly say that we honoured the colours of Ghana and restored respect and credibility to the Black Stars on football’s greatest stage,” he wrote.

He ended his farewell message with the words, “Thank you, Ghana. The journey starts now.”

Queiroz leaves the Black Stars after overseeing the team’s campaign and departs with a message urging stakeholders to continue building a stronger foundation for the future of Ghana football.
